When is the right time to sell your house?

The range is about 5-7 years for a growing family, closer to 5 years if you’re completely out of space and your location no longer works for you.

WHY 5-7 years???

1. Desire

Statistically, many Canadians (28%) start to think about moving every 5 years... (it’s probably driven about the fact that you renew your mortgage every 5 years) but if you’re still itching at 7 years, it’s probably because you really just don’t fit anymore… Then it’s time to move.

2. Styles & Trends

Homes get outdated faster than ever. You probably feel you need to constantly update your home and you are running out of ideas.

3. Wear & Tear

If you have kids or pets, you know. The baseboards, the paint, the carpets, the floors, the windows, appliances, foundation cracks, the roof, the garage.. If it doesn’t need maintenance already, the days are upon you!

4. MONEY

If you have a 500,000 mortgage, you have put a about a 12% dent into it! (Great!). It’s time to refinance and buy something bigger so you can increase your net worth! Always think about the potential opportunity that your home could become your biggest investment.

5. Market Conditions

If you’re thinking about moving, don’t just consider how ‘strong’ the market is and how ‘high’ sale prices are: remember it’s all RELATIVE if you buy and sell in the same market

Although you may have your own motivation, needs, etc... Remember there is always sesonality involve and Market conditions.
